Let’s Hold Canada to its Word: Demand Sanctions Now.
Dear [Hon. First Last / Mr./Ms. Last Name],
I am writing as a constituent of [Your Riding, Province] to urge you to support an immediate and full arms embargo on Israel.
On May 19, Canada joined the U.K. and France in warning that “if Israel does not cease the renewed military offensive and lift its restrictions on humanitarian aid, we will take further concrete actions in response,” including targeted sanctions. Now, the UN is warning that 14,000 babies could die in the next 48 hours without aid.
Yet Canada continues to export weapons used in Gaza, where civilians face unimaginable suffering. I ask that you:
Support an immediate suspension of all arms exports, licences and permits to Israel.
Back legislation or Orders in Council to impose an arms embargo until Israel complies with international humanitarian law.
Call for Canada to work with allies in expanding sanctions on individuals and entities responsible for human‐rights abuses.
Canadians expect our government to uphold human rights standards, not undermine them. Please let me know how you will act on this urgent request.
Thank you for your attention to this critical matter. I look forward to your prompt reply.
Sincerely,
[Your Name]
